My friend, Mary Ricketson, and I just heard that we won state medals in the Literary Arts Division of the 2024 North Carolina Senior Games. We are ecstatic!
Mary’s poem, “Gone,” took gold in our local games, then snagged silver at the state level. My entry in the “Life Experience” category, “Honoring and Honored at the Rosebud Wacipi,” won silver in the local contest and bronze at the state competition. We couldn’t be happier.
Mary leads the Ridgeline Literary Alliance for our local writers. It’s such fun knowing that members from our little group scored two out of the twelve possible medals against some really tough, statewide competition. It’s a huge honor.

And I am proud that both of you are also members of NCWN-West. It was good to see you at the picnic on Sunday.
